PREVALENCE OF MENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL DISORDERS IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS FROM 2010 TO 2019, STATE OF ACRE, BRAZIL

Abstract


PURPOSE: Analyze of children and adolescents hospitalization of due to mental and behavior disorders in the state of Acre, from January 2010 to December 2019. METHODS: Cross-sectional descriptive population-based study using secondary information registred in the database from Hospital Information System - Unified Health System (SIH-SUS). RESULTS: We found 1.181 cases, 78.23% of them from Rio Branco city, Acre state capitol. The majority (94.32%) of hospitalizations occurred in an emergency situation and the most part 51.98% in the public hospitals. The most affected age group was 15 to 19 years old with a prevalence 86.19% cases. The predominant frequent morbidity was mood disorders the prevalence was 28.70%, of these cases, 58.99% were female. However, the male gender was the most affected among all other diseases, with a prevalence of 60.54%. CONCLUSION: This study contributes to the understanding of the demographic distribution of these disorders, assisting in the creation of public policy that help health promotion of specific strategies for this population.
